THE SUFFOLK HOUNDS
Trail Hunting in Suffolk
The Suffolk Hounds are based in Great Whelnetham and have hunted in the area since 1745, for over 260 years, covering over 24 miles from Shadwell in the North to Long Melford in the South with the same miles covered from Redgrave in the East to Denston in the West
The tradition of hunting continued with little change until the introduction of the Hunting Act in 2005, The Suffolk Hounds follow the laws set out and are a trail pack hunt
The sport of trail hunting is where a scent trail is laid, either with a runner on foot, a rider on a horse or a member of the hunt staff driven around on a quad bike. Hounds are then tasked to follow the trails by the Huntsman, a filed Master will then follow with you the horse rider, to enjoy the chase and cover some of the most beautiful country side in England.
